Why Use a Cleanser and Not Just Soap?

Many people would have never imagined using soap on their face was doing more harm than good. I was a frequent soap user on my face for years until I was educated on how harmful it was.

Proper pH Balance for Your Face

Your face must have the proper pH balance. A pH balance is measured from 0, which is acidity, to 14, which is alkaline. Below 7 is acid and above 7 is alkaline. It is important to wash your face with a cleanser. Cleansers will typically get you closer to a 5.5 pH balance, which allows dirt and oil to be broken down. When using soap, the alkaline level is very high, causing your skin to dry out and stripping your face of its natural oils.

Make sure you always use a cleanser to wash your face as opposed to soap.

What Do You Want From a Cleanser?

There are so many great cleansers on the market; however, I recommend using a cleanser that has the Good Housekeeping Seal. I always tell my customers to use the product that works best for their skin and gives them the results they are looking for. Customers must know what they want from their cleanser (see below):

1. Are you interested in reduction in fine lines and wrinkles as well as younger looking skin? If so, use anti-aging ingredients that contribute towards the reduction in fine lines and wrinkles.

2. Do you want a cleanser that cleanses, exfoliates, and tones the face in one step? All three are important parts of the basic skin care routine.

3. Do you want a simple solution, such as a cleansing cloth that also cleanses, exfoliates, and tones the skin? This is great for traveling and to use after the gym.

4. If you have dry skin, you are going to use a different product from someone who has oily skin. Your cleanser must accommodate your skin type. This should be visible on the product you are using. The product packaging should indicate if it is for your skin type.

5. If you have acne prone skin, I highly recommend using a cleanser for oily skin and a toner with Salicylic Acid.

When you wash your face, make sure you use a cleanser and not soap. Cleansing is part of your skin care routine you should conduct every morning. The five basic parts to a skin care routine that will contribute towards healthy skin are cleanse, exfoliate, tone, moisturize, and protect.

5 Winter Skin Care Tips to Battle Dry Itchy Skin

Winter is a time to frolic in the snow and just feel alive after a sweltering summer. On the other hand, it's also a time when your skin suffers the most. If you don't want to get cracked, itchy or dry skin, use the following skin care tips to keep your skin supple and healthy this winter.

Skin care tip #1: Stick with 'Oily' moisturizers

Even if you slather that summer moisturizer all over your face, your skin will get dry again once you go outside. Most summer and spring lotions are water-based and don't give your skin with the level of moisture needed on those dry winter days.

Skin care tip - On your next trip to the store, look for an oil based moisturizer and grab a bottle. Apply it as soon as you feel your skin itching or stretching to soothe it. This will actually lock in all the moisture your skin needs and create a protective layer around it to keep it that way. Make sure to apply your lotion right after a shower and several times a day to keep your skin from drying out. Also look for lotions that contain humectants such as glycerine and alpha hydroxy acid that can pull moisture into your skin and keep it there. For really dry skin, try applying petroleum jelly or mineral oil that can help to lock in moisture.

Skin care tip #2: Take Short Hot Showers/Baths

Taking a hot shower or bath is heavenly on a cold winter morning, but did you know that showering can cause damage to your skin? Long hot showers can draw moisture from your skin by breaking down the lipid barriers of your cells. Extremely hot water can also break the capillaries in your skin causing blotches and can even dry it out by sucking up all the moisture it needs.

Skin care tip - To avoid this, take a lukewarm bath with some oatmeal or baking soda. This will prevent your skin from getting itchy while a few drops of jojoba or almond oil can keep it moisturized. Avoid bathing more than once a day and use a mild soap with moisturizers to help rehydrate dry skin. Avoid hot showers as hard as that is on a cold winter day and keep your shower time to as little as possible. Make sure to apply your lotion while your skin is still moist!

Skin care tip #3: Use a humidifier

Winter air is known for being dry and harsh. To make matters worse, the central heating systems that keep us warm further dry out the air sucking moisture from our bodies.

Skin care tip - Hook up a couple small humidifiers to pump moisture back into the air. This not only helps your skin but can also ease problems with dry eyes and sinuses as well. Another less expensive and more eye-appealing option is to use plants. Plants give off moisture through their leaves which can keep the air in your home from drying out. Use broad leaf varieties for the best effect and spray them lightly on occasion to give the air and your plants a little boost of moisture.

Skin care tip #4: Give your Hands Tender Loving Care

Your hands are the parts of your body most exposed to the chilly air during the winter. Plus, since the skin is so thin in that area, they can get dry and flaky pretty fast too. Wet gloves can further dry your skin out and cause irritation as well

Skin care tip - Keep the skin on your hands moisturized by applying the oil based lotion mentioned before. Do this each time you wash your hands and cover them with gloves when you go out. If you prefer wool gloves, make sure to use a cotton liner to avoid irritation and to wick away sweat that can also cause problems. Make sure to use a moisturizing hand soap as well to add an extra boost of moisture every time you wash your hands.

Skin care tip #5: Oil up Frigid Feet

Those mint lotions may sooth your aching and hot feet in the summer months, but come winter time, they won't be of much help. You need stronger stuff to combat the layers of dry skin on your feet in the winter.

Skin care tip - Look for lotions that have petroleum jelly or glycerin in them. Foot gels such as these can cut through all those dead layers and keep your feet soft. But first, remove dead skin by exfoliating your feet so that the moisturizer can sink in faster and deeper. Winter time is a great time to splurge on those pedicures as well. With cold toes and wet socks damaging your feet constantly in the winter months, pampering yourself is definitely justified!

Feeling fresh and healthy makes winter much more fun. Remember to stock up on oil-based moisturizers and keep your skin covered. Apply sunscreen to exposed skin as well to keep it protected from damaging UV rays. Limit your bath time, avoid hot showers, and pamper your skin a little during the harsh winter months. Keep your skin itch free by following these skin care tips and you can forget about dry skin and just have fun!

Using Your Mixer Showers To Treat Your Skin

You may not want to believe it; but research reveals that hot showers cause dry flaky skin. You may have gone to the skin specialist several times only for them to tell you that they do not see anything wrong. If you have wondered why, now you know the answer.

May be you may not have noticed it, but your mixer showers may be faulty letting the water get hotter than usual hence causing the damage in your skin. This article will bring to light some things you can do to reverse the dryness and flakiness hot showers may have caused.

If you must have a hot shower, make it short

We cannot assume that everyone will walk away from hot showers and if you the kind that must have one, then cut the time spent under the shower. The skin damage is even more severe when you use pumps to boost the pressure. You may enjoy the feeling of water hitting you skin with force, but the effects are not so good. You can as well consider reducing the pressure levels, as this will lessen the impact of too much heat on your skin.

Use soap selectively

Everything may be going herbal now but that does not mean that your soap has no chemicals at all. Do not be scared, no one is advising you against using soap. What this article advises is for the selective use of soap. Some areas in the body never sweat and there is no reason to soap them. Only areas like the armpits, groin, neck and feet should be soaped on a daily basis. Doing this will make your skin healthier especially if the soap is contributing to the dryness.

Again, select soap that has natural oils to make sure that your skin remains moist even after the shower. Some soap gets rid of all moisture on your skin and if you do not apply any oil, your skin dries and you suddenly get itchy. If none is available, then consider using shower gels.

Let the water pressure be enough

If you use pumps, let the pressure they add to the water be enough. Do not spend five minutes after the shower vigorously rubbing your skin with the towel to dry yourself. Instead of rubbing the towel, pat your skin gently and slowly, and the towel is absorbent enough to dry you in this way. If not, then consider investing in a good and heavy towel for use after the shower. Rubbing takes away the moisture on your skin and after a few hours, you feel the need to scratch.

Common Juvederm Questions Answered

Juvederm is one of the go-to options for improving deep wrinkles that occur in the face and around the mouth. Many times, this treatment option can work to make a significant improvement on wrinkles, deep lines around the mouth, and creases in the forehead. If you want to look younger and think this is the right option for you, schedule a consultation with a provider to discuss your options. When you do, you'll see just how well this method can work for your needs.

What Is It?

One of the most common questions people have about Juvederm is what the product actually is. In short, it is a gel-like filler that is injected into the folds of the skin where you've lost collagen buildup over time. The company uses a special process to manufacture this product. This process, called Hylacross technology, allows for a very smooth and consistent type of gel to be created. They then inject it with lidocaine. This medication ensures you do not have any pain during the procedure. The result is a smooth-looking, natural appearance without any pain during the process.

Where Can You Use It?

The next common question people often ask about this product is where they can use it. Ultimately, only your doctor can determine if this is the right type of treatment for your needs. However, it is often beneficial in areas such as the lines next to your mouth, the area just above the upper lip, and in the checks. It can also work in other areas, depending on the depth of the wrinkles or folds.

What Does It Do?

The problem with many people's skin is that as they age the amount of hyaluronic acid present reduces significantly. This naturally produced substance is necessary to keep the wrinkles and lines away and to ensure you have youthful looking skin. When you use this product, it helps to provide more of the benefits that this acid usually does for your skin. As a result, it adds a significant amount of volume to the facial areas to smooth away the deep lines created by the loss of hyaluronic acid.

Is It Right for You?

To know if this is the best possible option for your needs, schedule a consultation with your dermatologist. He or she will work closely with you to examine the area you wish to treat. Then, if this is the right type of treatment, he or she will recommend going ahead with the procedure. There is no pain associated with it, but the results that you get from Juvederm can be significant. Find out if it is right for you and then wait to see the results.

Though there are several places where one can go to get Juvederm Lubbock locals know that for experienced specialists that create excellent results, they should go to lubbocklaserclinic.com. Providing useful skin care products reviews and skincare treatment articles, writings and reviews online.

Do Away With Dull Skin Caused by Blemishes, Use Kojic Acid Cream

As we become older, our skin starts to show signs of aging. These signs may vary from wrinkles, dry skin, roughness and dark spots. As we age, blemishes like those mentioned, become a lot more persistent and may even be difficult to get rid of completely. This is especially true if you are not using the right product to address the blemishes you're getting. Blemishes can leave our skin dull and somewhat lifeless. It loses that radiant glow we once had when we had healthy looking skin. However, you can still have beautiful skin even if you're older and get rid of those blemishes. And one of the best ways to treat skin blemishes is by using an external treatment like Kojic Acid cream.

Kojic Acid cream is a beauty product which can help when it comes to skin whitening. This is important because you want to make sure that your skin should also look healthy. Kojic acid cream can even out your skin tone if you're having problems with even skin pigmentation. As a matter of fact, a lot of individuals, no matter what their age or gender, may experience some form of skin pigmentation problem at some point in their lives.

For younger people, freckles are a common skin pigmentation issue. Often hereditary, these tiny dark spots can be considered unattractive. Blemishes like freckles can be addressed by using Kojic acid cream on the areas where the freckles can be found. This is usually on the shoulder areas and the face. Apart from freckles, youngsters also have to deal with pimples and acne breakouts as they group into teenagers and as young adults. This time can be difficult for a person as acne can leave scars on the skin that are typically darker in coloration. These tend to never go away unless a skin whitening regimen like using Kojic acid cream is implemented as part of the daily hygiene routine of the person.

For adults, issues with Melasma and liver spots or age spots are common. Similar to other skin pigmentation problems, these conditions create patches of dark unappealing spots on the skin. This is due to the imbalance in the production of melanin which is the source of the coloration. Through the use of Kojic acid cream, you tell your body to stop producing melanin, which in time, and regular use of the cream, your skin will begin to have a lighter shade throughout your face.

Since it's made with natural ingredients, there's no side effects to really worry about and may be used by almost any skin types. As a suggestion, you can also purchase some Kojic acid soap to help speed up the process of skin whitening. Just make sure to use the Kojic acid cream and soap daily, and if you typically go out under the sun, make sure to use some sun block lotion for extra protection. This is so that you can immediately see the results you're looking for and get rid of those blemishes fast.

Simple And Natural Methods For Getting Rid Of Acne And Maintaining Youthful Looking Skin

Skin problems are the bane of every persons life. No one wants to sport blemished and unsightly skin. However, not all of us are lucky. There are those who were born with these skin problems. In other words, their problem is hereditary or genetic. But there are also those who get them due to poor hygiene, diet, and other unhealthy practices. These skin problems usually erupt when we enter our teens. One of the most common of these is acne. Most teenagers try to battle with this problem, especially when they hit puberty. So what can you do if you have this problem as well?

Now unless it's a really bad case of acne, there are simple and natural methods you can try out. These have been proven to be quite effective, as long as you follow them religiously. However, if your acne problem gets worse, then it might be because of other deeper causes. In such a situation, you should go see a skin care expert. So let's proceed with the first one. It's simply to avoid touching your acne. Touching them would only invite germs and other bacteria that comes from your hands to go to your face. Some pimples are open and fresh and this makes it even more dangerous.

Second, wash your hands often and your face at least twice a day. This will help minimize the dirt and grime from sticking to your skin. One of the major causes of acne is accumulation of dirt, grease, and grime on the face. However, remember to use a mild cleanser, especially if you have sensitive skin. If you're not sure of what to use, ask a skin care expert. Third, try to keep a balanced lifestyle. This means keeping a healthy diet, having a regular exercise regimen, and getting enough sleep.

The right kinds of food enhance the development of beautiful, glowing skin. Fruits, vegetables, and lots of water will do the trick. Plus, sweating a lot when you exercises opens and clears your pores. And of course, when you get enough hours of sleep, this helps rejuvenate your skin cells. The last tip is to get some quality rest and relaxation from time to time. Nothing can cause horrible skin problems quite like stress. A stressful lifestyle is very detrimental to one's health, not just one's skin. If you want to stay and look young and healthy, lead a less stress-free life. It may not be easy, but you can certainly work at it!

Warts Removal: In Different Growth Phases

Warts are the hard rough projections that appear on the skin because of the invasion of a virus called Human Papiloma Virus. These viruses are of many types and each strain can produce different types of warts. Various modern techniques and strong topical agents carry out warts removal. An ideal wart appears all in a sudden, last for almost two years and finally disappears. The warts have different growth phases and the treatment in different phases varies. The growth phases of a common wart are:

· lag phase
· log phase
· stationary phase
· decline phase

Lag phase

Lag phase is the initial phase in which the viruses invade our body through the direct contact with an infected person. The viruses infect the weak area of the skin like broken area or injured area. As soon as the virus invades our body, it begins to grow and multiply. Usually these viruses will not infect the deeper layers or cells. The invaded viruses mutate the normal cells and enhance uncontrollable cell division. Thus, new cells begin to grow over the invaded cells. New blood vessels and nerves starts growing into those newly formed cells. However, there will not be any visible signs and symptoms for this invasion and cell growth as it is not visible for our naked eyes. This is a painless process and that is the reason why it is very difficult to detect lag phase. The usage of any topical medicines can destroy these viruses on contact, but we cannot spot the site of invasion. The first sign becomes visible only after the lag phase. A wart may take 2 weeks to several months to complete lag phase.

Log phase

Log phase is the important phase where the growth and multiplication of the viruses reaches in its peak. The rapid rate of multiplication makes the wart increase in its size and more blood vessels and nerves grows into it. The viruses spread to the lower layers of the skin. During this phase, some visible signs are visible, like hardening of the tissues and small rough projections at the site of invasion. We can control this growth with the help of topical medicines like Imiquimod, Veregen, liquid nitrogen, Salicylic acid etc. These medicines are able to go deep into the cells and kill the viruses present in the lower layers of skin.

Stationery phase

This is the phase in which, growth of the wart reaches its maximum. Size of the wart becomes stable, and sometimes it may spread to the neighboring areas. The full-grown wart is little darker and it appears as a small projection (different types of warts have different colors and appearance) on the skin. The treatment will be much difficult and may take several months to recover. Treatment methods like laser Treatment, Immunotherapy, Cryotherapy, electrocautery etc will be effective to prevent further growth and spreading of wart. The chemicals like Salicylic acid, Trichloro asetic acid, Veregen etc are applied which kills the viruses in the deeper layers and reduces the size of wart by shrinking. Without taking treatment, this phase may last for more than two years.

Decline phase

After stationary phase, the wart may begin to shrink and the darkness start to disappear. The wart disappearce because of the immunological response of our body against the wart. The antibodies produced by our body kills the viruses within a short period and the wart gradually disappears. No treatment is required for this phase; sometimes following treatment at this time may inversely affect the natural curing.

The recognition of the ongoing phase of wart is vital for the success of warts removal treatment procedures.

What Cosmetic Dermatology Options Are Right for You?

Cosmetic dermatology has many benefits. Only individuals who want to improve the way their skin looks and feels will be able to determine which types of procedures are right for their needs. Do you hate the frown lines you have developed over time? Do you dread looking in the mirror each morning and noticing dark patches developing? You may not like the way your skin feels either. The good news is there are many treatment options that can significantly improve the way your skin looks and feels. With the right doctor, you can see the changes you desire.

Getting Rid of Wrinkles

There are various methods for getting rid of wrinkles. In cosmetic dermatology, your doctor will work with you to determine the proper treatment for the wrinkles you have based on the location and depth of each wrinkle. Some products, including injectables like Botox, can help to get rid of even deep wrinkles including those near your eyes, around the mouth, and on the forehead.

For deeper wrinkles, products called derma-fillers are ideal. These work to fill in areas where the wrinkles are deep set by adding more material to the area. Soft tissue fillers such as these can offer significant improvement to various areas of the face, including around the lips, mouth, and cheeks.

Skin Quality

For some, the wrinkles are less of a problem than the quality of the skin. There are options for this as well. Chemical peels are ideal for getting rid of dark spots and acne scarring. These products encourage the skin to produce collagen. This material helps to get rid of fine lines, too. It creates a more youthful appearance.

Laser treatments are another option. This creates a dramatic improvement and can help to get rid of spots, scarring, rosacea, and some wrinkles. The technology is also used to get rid of veins that show through the skin. Though a bit more intense, it offers the ability to see significant improvement in the way you look.

Other Options

Consider laser hair removal so you do not have to shave again. You may want to consider photodynamic therapy, which can significantly rejuvenate your skin and it can get rid of sun damage. You may also want to use skincare products to handle the problems you have so that the treatment is less invasive.

The good news is the cosmetic dermatology can drastically improve the way your skin looks without any surgery. If you think you need a facelift, think again. These procedures can offer a solution far sooner and without the cost or pain. Find out if you are a good candidate for them.

When they start to consider the benefits of cosmetic dermatology Soho NYC residents want a doctor who specializes in this field. Looking For the Best Anti-Aging Night Cream for the Aging Skin

Aging is a natural process and although we only celebrate growing old once a year, we actually age every day. Gradually, our body functions tend to slow down and we eventually become weaker. Our muscles and bones may not be able to carry the same weight they used to. In fact, lifting things may even cause soreness and muscle tearing. We may also not be as immune to diseases as before. In fact, we may experience unexplainable pains from several parts of our bodies every once in a while. Our skin also does not have the same youthful glow and elasticity as before. We may notice wrinkles, fine lines and furrows that are slowly becoming more and more visible each day. We all have different pacing when it comes to aging. Although you may have the same age as your neighbor, there is a chance that he or she may look younger than you. This can be nature's gift to him or her but this is an opportunity that should not be kept from you. You, too, can look young! In fact, you can even look better than you were during your prime.

There are certain ways on how you can achieve this.

Nowadays, there are plenty of dermatological clinics that can give you cosmetic surgery for you to regain your youthfulness. This is not advisable, however, if you are already feeling pains in your body and if you really cannot fit this into your budget. An example would be botox wherein chemicals are injected into your face and freezes muscle movement to remove existing facial lines while preventing any possibility of new ones arising. This procedure is proven to show very noticeable results in a really short period of time.

To those, however, who may be a bit tight on the budget and who are skeptical of the safety of procedures, you may opt to try topical agents. Topical agents may come in the form of creams, gels and other emulsions that promise to bring out your youthful glow. It is quite a challenge, though, to look for the best anti-aging night cream because there are thousands of products on the market shelves and online. When looking for the best anti-aging night cream, you must, of course, read through the ingredients to determine whether there are any that can cause you allergies or harm. If these ingredients seem unfamiliar to you, you may consult your physician or do a little research. It will also help if the product has a lot of testimonies from people who have actually experienced its effectiveness. Revitol Anti-Aging Night Cream is the brand recognized as the best anti-aging night cream because it does not only solve facial lines, it also keeps the skin moisturized and it stimulates the production of collagen for healthier skin and elastin to make the skin firm.

The signs of aging are not considered to be problems anymore. Now, you can get to choose when the right time is to show the world your age. Let age remain to be just a number.
